The Task Force Mountain website is the official website for news and information from the United States Army's 10th Mountain Division and it's organic brigades, deployed almost continuously in overseas contingency operations in Afghanistan and Iraq since 2001. The commander of the 10th Mountain Division is Major General James L. Terry. The division headquarters along with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Brigade Combat Teams, the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade and the 10th Sustainment Brigade is based at Fort Drum, New York, with the 4th Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Historically, divisions deployed to war as a whole unit with their own organic brigades under their command and control. With the advent of the Army's modular brigade concept, however, brigade combat teams often deploy to overseas contingency missions under the command and control of different headquarters than the 10th Mountain. These ad hoc relationships are often referred to as a "Task Force." This site is designed to keep all the Soldiers, Families and friends of the 10th Mountain Division informed and in touch with each other regardless of their location or task force designation.
